The
economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the immediate past
Governor of Akwa Ibom State,
Senator Godswill Akpabio.
It
was learnt that the commission invited the Senate's Minority Leader in relation
with petitions written against him by some indigenes of Akwa Ibom State.
The
petitions border on misappropriation of funds while he held sway as governor of
the state.
Investigations
revealed that he honored the EFCC's invitation by 5pm and was still at the commission by 7pm.
The
Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, refused to
comment on the interrogation of the former governor when he was contacted on Friday.
